The city will have to wait for the end of the week for the monsoon to arrive. Met officials attribute this delay to the weakening of the monsoon current. The normal onset date for Pune is June 8. “There has been no advance since June 5 when it hit Kerala. The conditions are the same as they were on June 6. The city might receive more rainfall from June 13-14 but the onset will be around June 15,’’ said Sunita Devi,director,weather central,IMD Pune. She said there are several reasons for the delay in the onset of rain. The south-west monsoon had initially gained momentum but it weakened later on,said met officials.
