62-year-old Laxmirajan Gajengi from Bibvewadi who was infected with HINI virus died on Friday.

62-year-old Laxmirajan Gajengi from Bibvewadi who was infected with HINI virus died on Friday. He was also suffering from cancer. PMC health officials said he had multiple myeloma and was admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital on April 20. This is the 8th death due to the infection this month. Of the 8 deaths,six occured in PMC limits.

In April,200 swine flu cases were reported in the state with 12 deaths,of which eight were in Pune.

Nagireddy new PCB CEO

K V Nagireddy will be taking over as the Chief Executive Officer of the Pune Cantonment Board. Nagireddy will be replacing Rachel Koshy,who has been holding the office since March 2010. While the exact date of Nagireddy’s charge has not yet been confirmed,officials said he will resume office after May 1.

Hookah Parlour raided,41 detained

Chatuhshringi Police detained 17 workers and 24 customers from an illegal hookah parlour running at a restaurant on Ganesh Khind Road. The raid was conducted by social security cell of unit III of the crime branch and the Chatuhshringi Police. “Of the 24 customers detained,seven are girls,” said Rajesh Bansode,DCP,Crime Branch.
