HSC repeaters: Only 20 % pass Only 20.38 per cent students passed in Pune division in the repeaters examination for class 12 held in September The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) declared the results on Monday. As many as 23,248 appeared for the examination,only 4,737 passed. Last year the pass percentage was 22.5, said Shahaji Dhekne,secretary,MSBSHSE. AIR,Doordarshan staff strike today Resisting a perceived move to curtail staff and stop allowances of employees,National Federation of Akashwani and Doordarshan Employees (NFADE) has given the strike call for Tuesday. There will be no programmes on All India Radio and Doordarshan after 9 am Tuesday, said NFADE joint secretary N V Ghatole. He said talks where on in New Delhi about their demands,but it does not seem the strike will be withdrawn. We are waiting for word from Delhi. The AIR and Doordarshan employees will stage dharnas as part of the all India protest. Auto driver sets wife on fire after tiff An autorickshaw driver allegedly set his wife on fire following an argument over his daily earnings late Sunday evening at their residence in Laxminagar,Yerawada. Police have arrested Imtiaz Yusuf Shaikh (26) on the charges of attempt to murder his wife Sana Shaikh (25). She got 25 per cent burns and is admitted to Sassoon General Hospital. Police said he poured kerosene on Sana and set her on fire. Vishwanath Ghanvat,police inspector (crime),is investigating the case.
