As many as 1,155 seats of bifocal courses of class XI in the junior colleges will remain vacant this year as the admission process ended on Thursday. Though there were 5,021 applications for 3,700 seats available in the table admission process, students did not opt for the course since they did not get the college of their choice.
There are total 4,475 seats available for bifocal courses. Of these 4,475 seats,3,700 were available in the table admission process and remaining are reserved for management quota to be filled at the college level. Of these 3,700 seats, only 2,545 have been filled in the admission process concluded on Thursday.
According to deputy district professional education and training officer DC Nevse, seats in the top city colleges are already filled. However, there is no demand for colleges on the outskirts of the city. Students do come for counselling, but do not confirm the seats in these colleges and thus they remain vacant, he said.
