‘Bangladeshi infiltrator’ who set up T-shirt business in Pune held

Ashok Patil, Police Sub-Inspector, said the accused initially worked at a garment workshop and later set up his own business in Pune. “We have seized an Indian passport and other Indian documents from the accused. Further investigation is on,” Patil said.

Probe revealed that the accused is a native of Bangladesh who allegedly crossed the international border in 2014 without the necessary permissions.

The police suspect that he initially procured a fake Indian birth certificate and used it to obtain other documents like Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter’s ID and an Indian passport.

Investigation is on to determine how he arrived in India and who helped him illegally procure Indian identity documents.

The police booked the accused under sections 318, 336, 338 and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections of the Passport Act and Foreigners Act.
