The Pune City Traffic Police on Sunday imposed a temporary ban on heavy vehicles from 9 am to 10 pm at 30 key spots throughout the city. This measure was introduced in response to severe traffic congestion caused by heavy rains and deteriorated road conditions. The ban will be in place till August 12 and will not be applicable to heavy vehicles involved in emergency services. In a notification issued Sunday night, DCP Traffic Rohidas Pawar stated that the continuous rainfall has significantly worsened road conditions and caused numerous potholes. As a result, the reduced capacity of the city's roads has led to increased traffic congestion. From Monday morning till August 12, a ban on heavy vehicles will be implemented for 30 key traffic junctions and points in the city. This ban will be applicable between 9 am to 10 pm for trucks, dumpers, concrete mixers and other heavy vehicles. The 30 traffic junctions and points are as follows: Sancheti Chowk, Paud Phata Chowk, Rajaram Bridge, Dandekar Bridge, Nilayam Bridge, Savarkar Putala Chowk, Laxmi Narayan Cinema Chowk, Seven Loves Chowk, Pandol Apartment Chowk, Khane Maruti Chowk, Power House Chowk, RTO Chowk, Patil Estate Chowk, Bremen Chowk, Shastri Nagar, Ambedkar Chowk, Chandrama Chowk, Mundhwa Chowk, Noble Chowk, Lullanagar to Golibar Maidan, Lulla Nagar to Gangadham, Pushpa Mangal Chowk, Rajas Society, Poultry Chowk, Undri, Pisoli, Handewadi, Abhimanashre Baner and Abhimanashree Pashan.
