Amid speculation of him quitting the Congress cropping up once again, former legislator Ravindra Dhangekar said he would soon be discussing with his supporters the speculation regarding his future. "I don't know why this talk of me quitting the Congress is cropping up. I have not taken any such decision," said Dhangekar without ruling out any further decisions on his political career in future. The talk of him joining Shiv Sena first cropped up after a meeting with party leader Uday Samant. "I had met Samant for personal work. Last week I met the deputy chief minister as well for personal work. Being in public life, I have to meet leaders for some or the other work," he said. Last week, he wore a saffron cloth around his neck leading to speculation that he was joining Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde. This was after the Congress had ignored him while appointing observers in the city for civic polls. Dhangekar said he will be meeting his supporters soon. "I lost the Lok Sabha and assembly elections last year. Citizens following specific ideology voted for me so I have to respect them. I will talk to supporters on why there is speculation about me quitting the party," he said, adding the action of his supporters seems to be leading to the speculation. Dhangekar had won Kasba bypoll in 2023 by defeating Hemant Rasane of BJP in the BJP bastion. He later lost the Lok Sabha and assembly elections in 2024. Dhangekar had joined Congress in 2017 after quitting the MNS ahead of civic polls. He started his political career with Shiv Sena led by Balasaheb Thackeray and followed Raj Thackeray after the formation of MNS.
