A 50-year-old bus driver was injured in a road mishap in which four vehicles collided one after the other on a bridge near Ved Bhavan in Kothrud early Monday. According to the Pune fire brigade, around 5am, a container going towards Mumbai via the road near Ved Bhavan in Kothrud is suspected to have applied brakes, as a result of which a state transport bus on the same route collided with the container from behind. The bus driver's cabin was crushed in the mishap and the driver got injured. Meanwhile, two more vehicles rammed the container and bus one after the other and the driver, identified as Uttam Kopre, stayed stuck in the damaged bus. Locals at the spot informed the Pune city police and the Pune fire brigade. Fire officer Sachin Shinde said, "We reached the spot in quick time and rescued the bus driver. He was taken to a hospital. Four vehicles had collided one after the other in the mishap. Prima-facie, we suspect the accident took place because of rains.” A team from Warje Malwadi police station launched an investigation. "The bus driver is undergoing treatment. No FIR has been registered yet. Probe is on,” said senior police inspector Vishwajeet Kaingade. The spot, where the mishap took place, is close to Chandni Chowk. On the night of June 12, the driver of a trailer carrying heavy iron rods died in a road mishap on the Mumbai –Bengaluru highway near Chandni Chowk.
