3 fake cops steal gold ornaments of 71 yr old woman in Pune

The victim woman, who is a resident of Tingre Nagar, lodged a first information report (FIR) in this case at the Vishrantwadi police station.

Three individuals posing as police personnel duped a 71 year old woman by stealing her jewellery worth Rs 2.75 lakhs on the Airport road in Vishrantwadi on Saturday morning.

Police said the woman and her husband were passing through the Joshi Wadewale on the Airport road in Vishrantwadi around 10 pm on Saturday. Three persons posing as policemen approached the woman. They asked the women to remove her jewellery as some investigation was going on.

After she removed the jewellery, the trio allegedly played a trickster and made away with the gold ornaments worth Rs 2.75 lakhs. The woman later came to know that her jewellery was missing. She approached the police and filed a complaint against the conmen.

Police sub inspector Anil Padekar, the investigation officer said, “No arrest has been made yet. Investigation is on.” Police have booked the accused persons under sections 318(4),204,3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
