Both key contestants Shrirang Barne of the Shiv Sena and Sanjog Waghere of the Shiv Sena (UBT) are from Pimpri-Chinchwad area. The Maval seat is divided into two parts. Three assembly constituencies of Panvel, Uran and Karjat are in Raigad district while three assembly seats of Pimpri, Chinchwad and Maval are in Pune district. The number of voters are also equally divided between them.

The counting of votes for Maval seat will take place on June 4.

The contestants are not worried at the lower voter turnout. Barne continues to maintain that he will win by a margin of over two lakh votes. “I will win by more than two lakh votes. The margin will be more than what I secured in 2019 elections,” he claimed. In 2019 elections, Barne had defeated Parth Pawar of the undivided NCP.

Waghere, on the other hand, claims that he has better chance of winning.
