2,51,804 students were allotted seats in the second round of admissions of First Year Junior College (FYJC), announced on Thursday. The science stream had the maximum number of allotments (1,29,035), followed by commerce (69,442) and then arts allotments (53,327), according to a press note shared by Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Dr Mahesh Palkar. Students can now confirm their admissions from July 18 to July 21 by physically going to the respective junior colleges. The Mumbai division had 79,403 allotments followed by the Pune division at 43,702 allotments. The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division had 29,348 allotments and the Nashik region had 23,789. The Nagpur division had 22,040 allotments followed by the Latur division 18,768. Finally, the Kolhapur division had 13,640 allotments. This is the first time the online CAP has been implemented across the state (except Konkan) as it was previously restricted to specific urban regions. 9,483 junior colleges are participating in the CAP process in the state. Out of a total intake of 21.3 lakh, 17.6 lakh seats are available as CAP intake and 3.7 lakh seats are available as quota intake. A total of 5,07,288 students have already been admitted till now. 4,31,615 students were admitted in the CAP round 1 and 75,673 students were admitted in the quota round under the three available quotas i.e Management quota, Inhouse quota, and Minority Quota. Students who have been allotted the college of their first preference are required to confirm their admission in the respective junior colleges as they will not be allowed to be a part of the future CAP rounds.
