19 autos with bogus chassis, number plates seized in Pune, seven arrested

The crime branch of Pune city police seized 19 autorickshaws operating with bogus number plates and without essential documents. Police arrested seven people, including drivers and owners of these autorickshaws. They have been booked under section 420 of IPC and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Acting on a tip-off, police laid traps at various places in the city and seized the autorickshaws between July 7 and 14. During interrogation, police found that the registration certificates of most of these vehicles has been cancelled. Also, the autorickshaws had bogus chassis numbers and bogus number plates. The information was shared with RTO authorities.
