Deputy Chief Minister Devendra FadnavisDeputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Thursday announced that he will retain the guardian ministership of naxal district Gadchiroli even in the next term, while also promising to make it the “most progressive district” in the state.
At an election rally held in Gadchiroli, Fadnavis said, “The Gadchiroli district has earned the tag of last district because of lack of development and backwardness. But that is all past… I will ensure Gadchiroli emerges as the most developed and progressive district of Maharashtra.”
The BJP leader also claimed that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over the reins of country, the naxal menace in entire country has been effectively tackled.
“The Centre and state are relentlessly working for overall growth of Gadchiroli in core sectors,” he added.
The deputy chief minister also pointed out that Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Mahamarg, a stretch between Mumbai to Nagpur, will be extended upto Gadchiroli.
The impetus on investments in the tribal belt was aimed at opening newer opportunities of employment for the local residents, he said.
“In the coming years, Gadchiroli, which is rich in mines and minerals and resources, will emerge as steel hub of India,” Fadnavis added.
The Gadchiroli-Chimur is among the five constituencies where polling will be held in the first phase on April 19.
BJP’s sitting MP Ashok Nete is poised for a straight fight against Congress candidate Namdeo Kirsan.
