Woman caretaker at school held over sexual assault of 4-yr-old girl

According to police, the child then told her parents that the caretaker had allegedly touched her inappropriately while accompanying her to the bathroom, during which she sustained the injury.

The parents approached the school administration and narrated the incident, following which the police were informed. The case was registered based on the medical report and the mother’s statement.

“The woman was working in the school for more than two years and she was taken into custody on Wednesday morning and produced in the court,” said a police officer.

An FIR registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, was registered based on a complaint filed by the victim’s parents on Tuesday.

The accused was produced before the court and has been remanded in police custody till September 19.

Another officer added, “It is a sensitive matter. After the initial verification, it appears that the woman committed the offence. But we have been checking the CCTV footage and will try to verify the incident.”
