Western Railway to raise height of 40 platforms

The Western Railway is planning to increase the height of 40 platforms in its 19 railway stations.

The Western Railway (WR) is planning to increase the height of 40 platforms in its 19 railway stations.

According to Shyam Sunder Gupta,chief spokesperson,the WR had received several complaints from the commuters. The railways may spend Rs 8.5 crore for the project. There are 139 platforms on the WR between Churchgate and Virar,of which 40 platforms do not have adequate height. This make it tough for the commuters to board trains and leads to accidents.

The height of platforms at Churchgate,Grant Road,Lower Parel,Mahalaxmi,Elphinstone,Dadar,Mahim,Khar,Santacruz,Vile Parle,Andheri,Goregaon,Kandivali,Borivali,Dhaisar,Bhayander,Naigaon,Vasai Road and Nalasopara should be raised.
