Western Railway is all set to roll out a specially designed local train for its women commuters from November 5 which marks its foundation day. The new rake has its interiors designed keeping in mind the needs of it women commuters with spacious luggage rack, improved seats and CCTV cameras in all it coaches providing better surveillance.
The seats in the first-class compartment has been redesigned from blue coloured to brown coloured with higher backrest.This move, according to railway officials, had been done after several complaints were received of the poly carbonate sheets breaking down and thus causing inconvenience to commuters.
“The rake will start in the evening on November 5. It is being done on a pilot basis and based on the reactions of the commuters further manufacturing of similar rakes will be undertaken,” explained a Chief PRO of WR, Ravinder Bhakar.
