With the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) set to undertake upgradation works at Pise water treatment plant, several pockets of Mumbai are set to experience 10 per cent water cut for three days from Tuesday (October 7). Situated near Bhiwandi, Pise Panjrapur complex houses a water treatment plant which caters to nearly 55 per cent of supply in Mumbai. Operating round the clock, the plant comprises installations like settling and filtration plant, chlorination plant, laboratory, sub station, pumping station among others. The civic body is now set to electricity meter at the 100 KW power station that powers the complex. According to officials, the work will be carried out over a period of three days between October 7 and October 9. In a bid to facilitate the meter connection, water supply will be suspended in several parts of the island city and eastern suburbs of Mumbai. Starting Tuesday, a 10 percent water cut will be imposed in at least 11 of Mumbai's 24 wards. Officials said that in the island city division, water supply will be impacted in all parts of A ward (Churchgate, Fort), B ward (Bhindi Bazaar, Masjid), E ward (Byculla ) as well as F/North (Matunga, Sion) and F/South (Parel) wards. Meanwhile, in the eastern suburbs, water supply will be affected in L ward (Kurla), M/East (Govandi, Deonar) and M/West (Chembur) wards, N ward (Ghatkopar), S ward which includes Bhandup, Nahur and Kanjurmarg as well as in T ward (Mulund). To prevent inconvenience, the civic body has appealed residents to store water for the course of 3 days and use water judiciously.
