Vivek Phansalkar gets additional charge of DGP as Rajnish Seth retires

The Maharashtra government had in October appointed Seth, a 1988 batch officer, as the chairman of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar has been given additional charge of state Director General of Police after Rajnish Seth retired from service on December 31.

The Maharashtra government had in October appointed Seth, a 1988 batch officer, as the chairman of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has approved Seth’s name for the post of chairman of the MPSC. Now that Seth has retired from service he may soon take charge of the new assignment.

Seth had served as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) before he was appointed as the DGP of Maharashtra in February 2022. Prior to that he has also served as joint commissioner (law & order) in Mumbai city.
