Maharashtra minister Sandipan Bhumre (Photo: Twitter/@SandipanBhumare) An audio clip has gone viral in which Maharashtra minister Sandipan Bhumre is purportedly heard abusing and intimidating a man from his constituency.
The state Employment Guarantee Scheme Minister, who belongs to the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, drew flak from Opposition leaders soon after the audio got circulated on Thursday. Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray also got in touch with the man whose voice is heard in the clip and assured that the party is with him and he did not have to be worried about Bhumre, as per Sena (UBT) sources.
The minister, however, did not comment on the viral audio clip. The Indian Express could not independently verify the authenticity of the recording.
In the clip, Bhumre, who is also the guardian minister of Aurangabad district, is purportedly heard speaking to a person named Babasaheb Wagh regarding alleged corruption in road works in some villages in Paithan tehsil. He is heard using swear words while referring to social media posts written by Wagh on the issue and seeking an explanation from him.
Wagh, however, replies that he had not written about Bhumre but about another person who is close to Bhumre. He is then threatened and “Bhumre” asks whether he did not know that the other person was close to him.
After the clip went viral, Wagh filed a complaint with the police. On Thursday, he also visited the office of the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve.
Speaking to media persons, Danve said: “I have heard the recording… Wagh has raised a complaint regarding a road work and a well. The road work has not been done but bills have been sanctioned. (District) Guardian ministers, from whom people should seek justice, are issuing threats instead.”
