A verbal spat between members of two rival gangs led to tension at Arthur Road Jail on Thursday morning.

A verbal spat between members of two rival gangs led to tension at Arthur Road Jail on Thursday morning. Prison officials, however, said that nobody was injured during the argument and that no police case had been filed.

“Nobody was injured, and it was not an attack on someone in the jail. There was merely a verbal argument between inmates Dinesh Narkar and Nilesh Shendge on some personal issue. They are both lodged in the same barrack,” said Superintendent of Arthur Road Jail,A Rane.

Shendge is a member of the Chhota Rajan gang and was one of the accused arrested for the murder of senior journalist J Dey in June last year, while Narkar is a member of the Arun Gawli gang.

Meanwhile,Rane rubbished rumours that gangster Santosh Shetty, who is also lodged in the high-security prison, was also involved in the tussle.
