Two youths try to kill teen with iron rod and stick, one held

TWO COLLEGE students — one of them a minor — have been booked for allegedly trying to kill another teenager by assaulting him with an iron rod and stick over a petty dispute in Mankhurd area on Thursday. The police have registered an attempt-to-murder case and arrested an 18-year-old youth while the other accused, a minor, has been detained.

According to police, the complainant, Priyanshu Mishra, 18, is a Mankhurd resident. A few days ago, Mishra’s friend Lokesh had a fight with accused persons Sumeet Dahale and a minor over a mobile phone. Mishra had intervened in the fighting and pacified them.

Since then the accused had a grudge against Mishra, an officer said. On Friday night, when Mishra was sitting on a bike in Sonapur area in Mankhurd, Sumeet and the minor arrived there and the two started mercilessly assaulting him with an iron rod and stick.

While the two managed to escape from the spot, locals rushed an injured Mishra to Sion hospital. He has sustained serious injuries on his head, the police said.

The police have registered a case under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (common intention) against the two accused.
