Two women molested in Malad; 2 arrested

Two cases of molestation were reported in Malad Monday. Police have arrested two persons.

In the first case,a 30-year-old woman from Laljipada in Kandivali (west) was allegedly molested by a businessman in his car after he offered her a lift. Police said the complainant owns three autorickshaws which she rents out to drivers. On Sunday,she was on her way to Chincholi in Malad (West) to get money from a driver.

On her way home,she met Niranjan Singh (42),an acquaintance,police said. Singh allegedly told her that he was going to Kandivali and could drop her in his car. The victim agreed.

However,Singh allegedly took her to a road behind Inorbit Mall and tried to molest her.

The complainant allegedly pushed Singh away and fled. She then approached Malad police and reported the matter. Singh was arrested early on Tuesday.

In the second case,a 23-year-old woman who works in Malad (West) was on her way to the railway station with her boyfriend,when three men began following her.

The victim told the police that one of the three approached her,touched her and passed a lewd remark. Her boyfriend then confronted the accused,who called two of his friends. The trio beat him up,police said.

We found one of the three accused,Nilesh Thakkar,a 19-year-old unemployed man,at the spot, said inspector Chandrakant Gurav. Thakkar was arrested and police are on the lookout for the others.
