Two minors were rescued from a nullah by the personnel of Dindoshi Police Station in Goregaon East on Thursday afternoon. Anirudh Vishal Pardeshi (11) and Praful Vishal Pardeshi (16) had ventured out to enjoy the rains but soon found themselves on the verge of being drowned in a nullah near the New Mhada Colony. “We received a call from the Police Control Room (North) at 3.20 pm about the situation,” said Women Police Senior Inspector (WPSI) Shubhangi Shirgave who also leads the station's Nirbhaya Squad. A rescue group of four officers which included Shirgave, API Suvidha Phulule and two orbit marshals, rushed to the spot to rescue the minors. “On being alerted, the local fire brigade pitched in to help as well,” said Shirgave. The operation lasted for half-an-hour until the two boys were fished out safely by a rope. The police have confirmed that the boys were not seriously injured and hence they were directly reunited with their mother. The two siblings were residents of Santosh Nagar in Goregaon (East). They had set out to enjoy the rains as schools around Mumbai had declared a holiday, but their small outing took a drastic turn. "Two weeks earlier, a similar accident was reported where a 30-year old man had slipped and fell into the same nullah but we didn't intervene as he was able to come out on his own unlike these kids who were young and inexperienced,” said Shirgave.
