TWO men were arrested from Malwani Monday for allegedly stealing several dumpers and tempos between Borivali and Bandra and selling in the used vehicles market in Nagpur. Police also recovered three pistols, two magazines and 29 bullets from the houses of Afshar Khan (34) and Irfan Khan (29),a keymaker, and are probing the possibility of an inter-state arms racket.

They said Irfan would make duplicate keys for Afshar to steal. The two, booked for robbery and under Arms Act,were arrested following a tip by an informant.

“They took orders from the Nagpur market for heavy transport vehicles. They not only stole vehicles but also ensured number plates and registration details were suitably changed,” A Shaikh, senior inspector, said, adding that the two would personally drive the stolen vehicles crossing all toll posts.
