Traffic jams across Mumbai as rain continues to batter city

Traffic snarls were reported across Mumbai due to heavy rainfall on Friday morning. The traffic police said extra manpower was dispatched to ease traffic congestion to enable officer goers a smoother ride.

The traffic police said vehicular traffic was moving slowly at Matunga, Chembur, and Kanjurmarg on the Eastern Express Highway. The Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg in Sion also experienced a traffic logjam.

The Mumbai traffic police posted on X, “Southbound traffic on the freeway is moving slowly due to the rain.”

In the western part of the city, traffic was highly affected between Goregaon and Bandra in the southbound direction and also near Dahisar.

“The movement was also slow near Powai, Andheri, and Malad,” an officer said.
