The prosecution in the 7/11 serial train blasts case examined three more witnesses on Thursday who had filed the first information reports at various police stations.

Special Public Prosecutor Avadhut Chimalkar said,“We examined the stationmasters of Mahim and Matunga Road railway stations and the motorman who drove the train in which an explosion occurred at Mira Road railway station. The witnesses had filed the first information reports (FIR) at various railway police stations”. The witnesses told the court about the loud noises they heard and the first class compartments that were ripped apart by the blast.

Meanwhile,the special judge is likely to partially allow media to cover the daily court proceedings after the intervention of the principal judge.

According to the prosecution RDX-laden bombs ripped the first class compartments of seven north-bound trains. The train blasts took place at Matunga Road,Mahim,Khar,Santacruz,Jogeshwari,Borivali,and Mira road stations within 10 minutes. The prosecution will continue examining the witnesses on June 30.

As per the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) chargesheet,13 accused allegedly belonging to the Lashkar-e-Toiba and Students Islamic Movement of India were arrested for conspiring and executing the explosions. The case was stayed by the Supreme Court which recently vacated the stay,following which the trial has re-started in the special court.
