In a raid at Bhiwandi in Maharashtra’s Thane district, the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police on Thursday recovered four SIM boxes in connection to the ongoing investigation into threatening messages sent on behalf of a pro-Khalistan group, warning people against attending the India-Australia Test cricket match hosted at Narendra Modi stadium on March 8.

Jitendra Yadav, Assistant Commissioner of Police at Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch, said the police have identified two accused in the case, Bhiwandi residents Mashid Khan (43) and Mohammad Shahid Alam (42). Both are likely to be brought to Ahmedabad on Friday, he said, adding that raids are continuing in Bhiwandi.

This is the third such seizure made in the case. The first seizure was made in March at Satna in Madhya Pradesh. Two persons were arrested in connection to releasing bulk calls and audio video messages ahead of the Test match, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, on the first day.

The pre-recorded messages had warned people to “stay at home” on the day of the match, saying that pro-Khalistan Sikhs were going to “storm Narendra Modi cricket stadium and install Khalistan flags”.
