Early paintings by S H Raza, M F Husain up for auction

Saffronart’s Summer Online Auction 2024, scheduled for June 26 and 27, will feature 130 lots by prominent modern and contemporary South Asian artists. These include early paintings by S H Raza, Ram Kumar, and M F Husain, as well as significant works by Gulam Mohammed Sheikh, F N Souza, Nalini Malani, Arpita Singh, and Subodh Gupta. Many of these pieces belong to reputed private collections in India and internationally. Leading the 24-hour sale is “Untitled (Village),” 1956, (lot 29), estimated between USD 400,000 – 600,000 (INR 3.32 – 4.98 crores) by S H Raza.

Eight unveils monsoon-inspired menu

Lower Parel-based pan-Asian restaurant Eight has introduced a new monsoon menu that includes dishes such as vegetable clear soup with silken tofu, an assortment of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dim sums, spicy vegetable Shanghai, and sherid chicken in homemade XO sauce, among other options.

Ishaara x Indu Ice Creams

Ishaara, in collaboration with Indu Ice Cream, has launched a new collection of ice creams and sorbets made with the purest ingredients inspired by Indian roots. The new flavours include refreshing mosambi sikhanji sorbet, which transforms the sweet and sour drink into a sorbet with a secret spice mix, and luxurious anjeer saffron cheesecake, featuring anjeer ice cream combined with saffron and finished with a ghee almond crumble.

A celebration of Awadhi cuisine

Ummrao, the celebrated restaurant at Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport, has curated a new menu titled ‘Lost Recipes of Awadh’. Available for a limited time, this Nawabi feast showcases ancient recipes and forgotten spices. Highlights include laziz pasakiyaan, featuring tender lamb chops marinated in a fragrant blend of Awadhi spices, melt-in-the-mouth lamb dumplings called mutton nargis kofta, and malai kulfi, among many other options.

NCPA Umang brings an Odissi solo and Kuchipudi duet

For NCPA Umang, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) has organized two classical dance performances — an Odissi solo and a Kuchipudi duet. The Odissi solo will feature Sonali Mohapatra, a celebrated artiste who, despite losing a significant portion of her hearing at age five due to medical negligence, has excelled in her field through sheer determination and has achieved Visharad and Alankar qualifications. The Kuchipudi performance, which seamlessly weaves together pure dance (Nritta), expressive dance (Nritya), and evocative narratives from Hindu mythology, will feature esteemed performers Washim Raja and Moutushi Majumder.
