Terror suspect Ansari moves bail plea in MCOCA

Jundal has alleged that his trial is being deliberately delayed by the state.

Alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba operative Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal,who was brought to India from Saudi Arabia in June 2012,moved a bail application in the MCOCA court Wednesday. Jundal has alleged that his trial is being deliberately delayed by the state

Ansari is an accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack of November 2008,in which 166 persons were killed. He has also been named an accused in the German Bakery blast in Pune in 2010,the 2006 arms haul case in Aurangabad and a plot to attack the Maharashtra police Academy in Nashik.

He last applied for bail in the sessions court in August. The appeal was subsequently rejected.

On Monday,the Bombay High Court granted bail to Javed Majeed,a co-accused in the arms haul case. Ansari is accused of driving a car filled with explosives from Aurangabad to Malegaon.

“The only evidence that the police has is his statement,which he has since retracted,” said Ansari’s lawyer Ejaz Naqvi.
