There have been plenty of chat shows on television in the past. How will Buzz of the Week be different?
Firstly,it is the presenter that makes a difference to any chat show. Also,I have been in the television industry for ten years. And nine out of 10 years I have actually interviewed Bollywood actors. So I have struck a rapport with them which helps keep the show casual and chatty. Also it is just a 20- minute show which makes it pacy and appealing to the viewers.
Will your show be strictly centered around interviews or are you going to be focusing on gossip and news?
The show will have interviews with top stars. We will be talking about their next releases and also the movies they have done in the past. But I make it a point not to raise topics which the actor does not want to delve into. For instance,I will never ask Salman Khan about his marriage because it is his personal decision.
You have been a successful anchor for almost a decade now. What is it about anchoring that appeals to you?
I am essentially an entertainer and performer. I am always enthusiastic about everything and thats what helps me transform my real life persona on screen. I genuinely believe that anchoring or hosting a show should come naturally to you or you end up sounding like a news reader.
Do you miss being a part of the Jaggu-Tarana package on radio?
Of course. I really miss hosting a show with Jaggu. I think I had the best chemistry with him. But then radio has changed a lot today. Earlier, radio gave importance to conversation, now it gives more prominence to music. I am happy we left the show at its peak. But I do miss Jaggu, although Tarana all by herself is also okay.
Will we see you doing many more television shows?
At the moment,I am also doing a show called Zing Expose on the entertainment channel Zing. It has a news magazine format and we basically do in depth entertainment stories.
Between being an anchor,RJ and actor, what role do you enjoy the most?
Ideally,I would like to do all these on a given day. I would like to start my day with radio, then conduct an interview maybe in the afternoon and then act in a play in the evening. If I do all of these even once a week I would consider it my perfect week.
Are there more movies in the pipeline?
I am doing a movie called The Godmoney. I am also doing a cameo in Karthik Calling Karthik which will release this month.
