The Mumbai Police Wednesday arrested the promoter of a tainted road contract firm, taking the total arrests in the road scam to 25.
Dipan Shah of Relcon Infra Projects Ltd., an Andheri-based firm, is one of six contractors named in the FIR filed by the BMC earlier this year after conducting an internal inquiry into the siphoning off of Rs 350 crore for the repair of roads.
Shah was remanded in police custody till July 16 by a magistrate, the police said. His arrest comes a week after the police arrested the civic body’s former chief engineer (roads) Ashok Pawar and chief engineer (vigilance) Uday Murudkar.

Shah, whose firm was served a notice in May, is accused of not executing the road work as per the design in the tender document and claiming bills for work that wasn’t executed.
The police had earlier arrested two site engineers employed at Relcon. The contractor is accused of conspiring with BMC’s site engineers and not laying the base layer in several roads in south and central Mumbai.
