Sweets in hand,NSG team revisits terror spots

Inspector-General A K Gupta from the NSG,who had come with the team to Nariman House on Tuesday afternoon,said: “The purpose of this visit is to do a detailed study of the entire operation by deconstructing the entire episode,right from the terrorists entering the premises to the completion of the mission.”

However,Gupta’s visit to the Nariman House was not all work and no play. Along with his band of men who had come there for the detailed study,Gupta also brought sweets to the residents of the area as a token of the NSG’s appreciation of the help that they rendered during the operations.

When asked to elaborate,Gupta said: “When our men were here,fighting terrorists,the local residents offered us all kinds of assistance. We used their house for our operation and the residents also offered our men facilities to rest and also food and refreshments.”

Recalling a particular anecdote,Gupta said with a laugh: “I remember this incident about some of my men asking a resident for some food during the two-day operation and this man brought enough food to feed an elephant. We were really touched by the way they were trying their best to take care of us.”

Prakash Surve,one of the residents who received sweets from Gupta,said: “We all are really touched by this. It goes to show that the NSG people did not forget us after the operation and took the trouble to bring sweets for us and express their gratitude. Though it was our duty to help these brave men who were fighting for us,we also knew it was our duty to help them in whatever way we could and that is what we did during those days.”
