Srinivasan’s asst drags MCA to court

The MCA was recently involved in a tussle with its former vice-president Ratnakar Shetty.

Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) president N Srinivasan’s personal assistant,Mayank Parikh, has taken the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to the court for not allowing him to contest their elections.

The MCA was recently involved in a tussle with its former vice-president Ratnakar Shetty. The association suffered a setback of sorts last week when the Bombay High Court ruled in the veteran administrator’s favour. Now,the MCA is bracing itself up for another court

battle.

According to a new rule ratified by MCA’s managing committee recently,no BCCI employee can contest the elections, which are scheduled to be held on October 18. Parikh, who has been a MCA member for decades, has cried foul. He has argued that the MCA’s managing committee has no power to change the bye-laws of the institution as it needs to be placed in front of the general body first.

“In the MCA constitution, rule number 55 clearly says that all changes in the bye-laws can be made only in annual general body meeting and it needs two-third majority to be passed. They have violated the rule,” Parikh said.
