Commuters of local trains in Mumbai will soon be provided with tickets printed from handheld terminals. It is a device which lets one print ticket through the help of a mobile phone and a printer that will be synced via bluetooth to provide ticket. It will be used by the railway officials only to give tickets.
Commuters will be able to avail of seasonal and general unreserved tickets through the device. The project was inaugurated by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Monday in Mumbai and will be run on a trial period at the Hazrat Nizamuddin station in Delhi.
Post the study on trial, the tenders of the same will be opened throughout the country. It is likely to save the waiting time of commuters and avail of tickets at a faster pace. This comes after the ATVMs and smart cards initiatives.
