The Central Railway (CR) had also initiated a similar programme of replacing its old indicators, but according to sources at CR,it will not replace red colour indicators. Both CR and WR have indicators with distinct colours— red on CR and neon on WR— and these colours help identify the railway jurisdiction, especially interchangeable stations like Dadar and Elphinstone-Parel.

Work on LED indicators have already started at Churchgate,Mumbai Central,Dadar,Bandra,Andheri,Malad,Borivali,Dahisar,Mira Road,Bhayander,Naigaon,Vasai Road,Nalasopara and Virar stations.

According to railways, replacement of old train indicators will soon begin at 14 stations like Marine Lines,Charni Road,Grant Road,Mahalaxmi,Lower Parel,Elphinstone Road,Matunga,Mahim,Khar,Santacruz,Vile Parle,Jogeshwari,Goregaon and Kandivali.

Augmentation of LED train indicators at three stations— Churchgate,Borivali and Virar— will be completed by the end of this financial year and installation of LED indicators at Jogeshwari and Grant Road stations will be completed by the end of this month, said railway sources.
