Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Tuesday unveiled a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara.
The equestrian statue of the Maratha king was installed at the Rashtriya Rifles 41 Maratha Light Infantry Regiment in Kupwara, which borders Pakistan.
“The statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, installed near the Line of Control in Kupwara, will inspire and energise soldiers protecting the country. This statue will always be there to hoist the tricolor after conquering the enemy,” Shinde said.
The statue was installed in Kupwara in a collaboration with Amhi Punekar organization, and 41 Rashtriya Rifle Maratha Battalion.
The statue was sent to Kupwara from Maharashtra on October 20 and was handed over to the RR41MLI Regiment for the installation.
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar were also present at the event.
While speaking at the event, LG Sinha also asserted that the statue will inspire the brave soldiers guarding the country’s borders under adverse conditions round the clock.
Shinde said that to mark 350 years of coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the state goverment has carried out various initiatives.
The Chief Minister also said state government will provide necessary support for the Shivaji memorial which is being built in Kupawara.
