Shinde Sena MP meets Modi, assures him of implementing Dharavi project

The meeting comes in the backdrop of announcement of a march by Uddhav Thackeray to Adani group’s office over awarding the project to the firm.

Shinde Sena MP Rahul Shewale Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and assured him of ensuring the implementation of the Dharavi Redevelopment project.

The meeting comes in the backdrop of announcement of a march by Uddhav Thackeray to Adani group’s office over awarding the project to the firm.

Dharavi is a part of Mumbai South Central constituency represented by Shewale.

The MP met Modi along with his family members including his wife, Kamini, and two sons — Swayam and Vedant.

Shewale said that during the 20-minute meeting, Modi and Shewale also discussed about the other developement projects of Mumbai.

“I had got the apointment to meet the Prime Minister on Thursday and accordingly I met him along with the family. The meeting was regarding the Dharavi Redevelopment Project. We discussed almost about 20 minutes during which I assured him of ensuring a successful implementation of the Dharavi redevelopment project,” Shewale told The Indian Express.

When asked if a discussion took place about the announcement of a march by Sena UBT to the Adani office on December 16, Shewale said, “He said that some people are trying to do politics over it but we must ensure the implementation of the DRP since its the largest slum rehabilitation project of Asia and it must take place soon.”

The Shiv Sena leader also presented to the Prime Minister the complete works of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and a statue of him extracting oil from an oil press mill during his incarceration in the Cellular Jail at Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Adani Properties had won the bid to re-develop the 594-acre slum. The project is estimated to have a revenue potential of Rs 20,000 crore.
