Shinde govt selling prime plots in Mumbai to favourite builders: Aaditya

He claimed that by selling Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Mandai land parcel, the government is planning to drive out Koli community people and fishermen out of Mumbai.

Responding to the issue, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that when he was chief minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had conveyed to him and the Karnataka chief minister to not take any action on the issue as it is pending in the Supreme Court.

Sena UBT MLA Aaditya Thackeray Thursday alleged that the Eknath Shinde-led government is “selling’ the prime plots in Mumbai to their “favourite private contractors and builders”.

The Sena UBT leader said that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to auction three prime lands – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Mandai (Market), Malabar Hill’s BEST receiving station and Worli’s asphalt plant – to raise funds and make up for the “loot by the Shinde regime”.

“The Eknath Shinde regime is selling Mumbai to his favourite builders and contractors. The BMC has decided to auction the three prime plots to raise funds and make up for the loot of the Shinde regime. So on one end, they looted the BMC and Mumbai, gave the money to their favourite contractors, and now by auctioning these important land parcels, the BMC will be left without both funds and plots ,” Aaditya alleged.

He claimed that by selling Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Mandai land parcel, the government is planning to drive out Koli community people and fishermen out of Mumbai.

“We will oppose this. It has to remain and be made into a fish market, and in the ownership of the BMC. For the other 2 land parcels, instead of giving it to their favourite builder, the government should consider it for police housing, govt quarters,” he said.
