On a day when the Supreme Court sought a reply from Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar within two weeks regarding disqualification proceedings against Shiv Sena MLAs supporting Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar has served show-cause notice to twelve NCP MLAs supporting Ajit Pawar.
The notices have sought answers from the MLAs regarding their absence from the meeting called by Sharad Pawar on July 5. These MLAs were instead present at the programme organised by Ajit Pawar.
According to sources within the Sharad Pawar group, a letter will also be sent to Speaker Rahul Narvekar about anti-party activities of these twelve MLAs. The names of the MLAs to whom the notices are served are Sunil Shelke, Dilip Bankar, Nitin Pawar, Dipak Chavan, Indranil Naik, Yashwant Mane, Shekhar Nikam, Raju Karemore, Manohar Chandrikapure, Sangram Jagtap, Rajesh Patil and Manikrao Kokate.
The NCP has already served disqualification notices to nine ministers who were sworn in on July 2 including Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.
Meanwhile, the NCP affiliated to Sharad Pawar taunted Chief Minister Eknath Shinde that he had lost the moral right to remain in his post. “Eknath Shinde and his group of MLAs had left the MVA government alleging that the then finance minister Ajit Pawar was not giving funds to them. Now the same Ajit Pawar has become the finance minister in a government where Eknath Shinde is the Chief Minister. What right does Shinde and his group has to criticize the previous MVA government and Shinde has lost the moral right to run this government,” said Mahesh Tapase, chief spokesperson of the NCP.
