THREE,including a senior citizen,were injured in two cases of robbery and a case of house-break Saturday. In the first incident in Pydhonie,a 70-year-old homemaker was allegedly assaulted by an unidentified couple and robbed of gold and cash worth Rs 2.46 lakh.
According to police,Sayeda Mohammed Shah,a resident of Telwala building in Pydhonie was at her residence at 5 am,when a woman knocked on her door. When Shah opened the door,she identified herself as Shahin and asked for a glass of water. When Shah went to fetch water,Shahin and a man,in his thirties,barged in and assaulted Shah. The couple gagged her and Shah lost consciousness. The couple fled with gold chains and bangles.
Three hours later,Shan regained consciousness and raised an alarm. Neighbours rushed her to a nearby clinic and informed Pydhonie police. Police have registered a case of robbery against the couple.
We have prepared sketches of the couple based on the description given by Shah, a police officer said.
In the second case,Deonar police arrested a 37-year-old unemployed man and are on the lookout for three of his accomplices for assaulting a couple in their cable office and robbing Rs 15,000 from them.
Police said the victims,Baba Khan and his wife Shabana,were in their office in Gautam Nagar Saturday when the accused,Santosh Shinde and his three friends,barged in.
After ransacking the place,they opened the cash counter. When Khan tried to resist,they assaulted him and his wife and fled with the loot. The couple was rushed to the Shatabdi hospital.
In the third instance,an unidentified man broke into a mobile store at Pant Nagar in Ghatkopar and fled with mobiles and cash worth Rs 19.40 lakh.
The mobile shop owner,Hemal Botada (32),approached police Saturday after he found the lock broken. On entering,he found 70 mobile handsets missing.
