(Representational Image)A 45-year-old Shiv Sena (UBT) office-bearer died Sunday after collapsing during an argument he had with an autorickshaw driver and few others in Vasai in Palghar district.
The deceased, Milind More, was the deputy chief of the Thane unit of the Sena UBT and also the son of veteran Sena leader Raghunath More.
Following More’s death, Arnala police in Palghar registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and arrested 10 persons including the rickshaw driver.
According to police, the incident happened at a resort in Arnala where More had an argument with the autorickshaw driver and staffers at the resort.
During the argument, he collapsed and was taken to a hospital, where the doctors cited hear attack as the prima facie cause of death, police added.
More had gone for a picnic with his family members to the resort. While leaving the resort, a rickshaw driver allegedly dashed the vehicle on More’s nephew after which an argument broke out, police said.
According to police, the argument turned violent and the auto driver along with some staffers of the resort allegedly manhandled More after which he collapsed.
“While moving out of the resort, he had an argument with a rickshaw driver, during which he collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival and opined heart attack as the prima facie cause,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale said adding that 10 persons were arrested in connection with the matter.
Based on the complaint by More’s family members, a case was registered under section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the DCP added.
Following the incident, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the civic authorities to demolish unauthorised resorts near Arnala beach, a release from the CMO said.
The Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) has started razing illegal structures in the area, it was stated.
More’s father Raghunath More was Shiv Sena’s district head of Thane till 2001 and was considered close to late Sena strongman Anand Dighe.
