A Shiv Sena leader has advised a construction firm co-owned by MNS chief Raj Thackeray to hire only Marathi workers and sell flats only to Maharashtrians – a cause in which each party wants to upstage the other.
Raj Thackeray has frequently criticised the Shiv Sena for diluting the Marathi and Hindutva issues and betraying the sons of the soil.
Now,the Sena leader has taken him on in the Lalbaug-Parel belt, where the MNS had upstaged the Sena in the elections.
Ajay Chowdhary,Sena vibhag pramukh, has put his message on hoardings and erected them near a construction site at Bhawandas Bagwe Chawl in Parel, where Matoshree Realtors is undertaking a redevelopment project.
Matsohree Realtors is co-owned by Rajendra Shirodkar and Raj Thackeray and both strongly believe in Mumbai for Maharashtrians. So the site should have Maharashtrian workers and engineers. Even the flats should be sold to Maharastrians, Chowdhary said.
Shirodkar said,The contractor-architect is a Maharashtrian. Now it is the contractors prerogative whom to hire.
A developer himself,Chowdhary was a strong contender for the Parel Assembly ticket but the Sena preferred sitting MLA Dagdu Sakpal. He was deputy shakha pramukh and has been vibhag pramukh for the last 10 years. Dagdu Sakpal had recommended his name for the post, for his work and enthusiasm, said a Sainik.
