Maharashtra’s Lokayukta Justice (retd) VM Kanade has disposed of the complaint filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya against Sena (UBT) leader and MLC Anil Parab in a matter related to Sai Resort in Dapoli.

Citing the Lokayukta order, Parab on Tuesday said the decision has proved that the complaint was false and politically motivated. “The complaint even otherwise is not maintainable because Sadanand Kadam is the owner of the said property since he purchased it by registered conveyance in 2020. He is not a public servant within the meaning of Section 2(k) of Maharashtra Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayuktas Act, 1971. The present complaint is not maintainable. The complaint is closed and disposed of,” the Lokayukta order said.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Parab said he has got clean chit in the complaint filed by Somaiya. “The Lokayukta has also concluded that the resort does not belong to me. The order has exposed Somaiya. He has no moral authority to file complaints against anyone. All these complaints have proved false and politically motivated,” said Parab, adding that his defamation suit against Somaiya has only become stronger now. “We will urge the Bombay High Court that either Somaiya should tender an unconditional apology or pay Rs 100 crore for the damage he caused to me,” he said.

Somaiya had filed a complaint with then Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in May 2021 who had then directed the Lokayukta to probe into the alleged irregularities in Dapoli’s Sai Resort. Parab was then Transport Minister in the erstwhile Maha Vikas Aghadi government. Kadam is presently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
