Restaurants hosting New Year’s Eve parties on December 31 will be mindful of customers’ alcohol consumption, cautioning them if they exceed three large drinks, according to Kamlesh Barot, former president of Hotels and Restaurants Association. He emphasised the association’s commitment to responsible bartending, urging patrons to drink responsibly for their own safety. Additionally, these establishments will offer driver services to customers who may need assistance getting home safely during the celebrations.
Barot explained that while valet parking is typically available, they have collaborated with contractors to arrange home drop services for customers unable to drive safely back home. Considering the stringent police patrolling on 31st night, the provision of paid driver services aims to prevent any potential issues.
In Mumbai alone, there are more than 800 restaurants participating in these celebrations. Furthermore, the Maharashtra government’s extension of opening hours until 5 am on New Year allows hotels, bars, and permit rooms to cater to customers and partygoers throughout the night, enabling them to enjoy food and drinks during the extended hours.
