The Nirmal Nagar police in Mumbai’s Bandra East on Monday booked a man on the charge of raping his cousin’s daughter when she was a minor and assaulting her with a belt when she resisted.
According to the police, the accused blackmailed the girl over her photos with her boyfriend, raped her on multiple occasions since February 2024. The sexual assaults took place when the girl’s parents were at work, as per her statement to the police.
According to the police, the girl became pregnant after the accused raped her in August 2024 by threatening to tell her family about her boyfriend. He continued to blackmail the girl even after she married her boyfriend, by threatening to defame her and demanding sexual favours.
It was then the young woman, along with her husband, approached the police and lodged a rape complaint.
The police have booked the accused under sections 64, 64(1), 64(2)(2), 115(2), 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 4, 6, 8, and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and are currently searching for him.
