Priyadarshini Park: Malabar Hill Citizens Forum meet CM Fadnavis

Through a signature campaign that began on September 30 residents garnered 40,000 signatures and presented them to the CM Devendra Fadnavis during the meeting.

The Malabar Hill Citizens Forum (MHCF), led by former Congress MP Milind Deora, met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday to raise a protest against the proposed fire station and swimming pool inside the Priyadarshini Park at Napean Sea Road. According to the members, they were reassured by the CM that he will look into the matter.

“The meeting seemed fruitful as he (Fadnavis) agreed that open spaces should not be taken up for development projects. Now, we hope that he will do the needful,” said Susiben Shah, General Secretary, MHCF.

Through a signature campaign that began on September 30 residents garnered 40,000 signatures and presented them to the CM during the meeting. In a meeting with the residents, Deora assured them that he will fight for their cause and continue to support them. “The fire station is a necessity in the area but for that, do they need to destroy the park? When there is an alternate land, they should consider it,” Shah said.
