Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had come to Shirdi in Maharashtra, should meet quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil and resolve the Maratha reservation issue. “He (PM Modi) is welcomed in Maharashtra. But I request him to go and meet Manoj Jarange Patil and resolve the issue of Maratha Reservation,” Uddhav said. Uddhav was speaking at his Matoshree residence in Bandra after Changej Khan, the leader from NCP’s Ajit Pawar faction and former mayor of Kurundwad, joined the Sena (UBT) along with his supporters. Speaking about Chief Minister Eknath Shinde taking oath of Shivaji Maharaj during his Dussehra rally to give reservation to Marathas, Uddhav asked what is the way forward to give reservation. “He took an oath. We respect it. But what is the path ahead to give reservation? Buying more time to give reservation is not the solution here. He should clarify what is the solution. He is in government since past one-and-a-half years and had got 40 days of time. Still why reservation is not given. There is a solution to the issue (of Maratha reservation).. he (the CM) should resolve the issue. Don't tell us the solution.. but tell it to the Maratha community members,” Uddhav said. While speaking at Sena UBT’s Dussehra rally Tuesday, Uddhav had thanked Jarange Patil for handling the Maratha quota stir maturely and has warned him to be wary of the BJP which he termed is “cunning” and creating rifts between different communities. Uddhav had also said that the Maratha reservation issue cannot be resolved in the state but it has to be resolved in Lok Sabha and the Centre should do it.
