A day after a 22-year-old woman died due to a cement brick falling on her head from an under-construction building in Jogeshwari on Wednesday, police registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against “people connected to Shraddha LifeStyle company” on Thursday. An FIR has been registered under section 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 3 (5) (common intention) of the BNS against people connected to the construction company. An investigation is on, said senior inspector Sudhakar Humbhe of the Meghwadi police station. According to personnel at Meghwadi police station, the incident occurred Wednesday morning when the deceased, Sanskriti Anil Amin, who was working in a bank in Goregaon, was on her way to work. A few metres from her residence, a cement brick fell on her head from an under-construction building of Shraddha Constructions. Hearing her scream, her father rushed outside and found his daughter lying on the ground, bleeding. She was rushed to hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Sanskriti’s father Anil said, “After 36 hours of the incident, police have not arrested a single person in the case.” Anil’s friend added, “The contractor and site supervisor whose responsibility is to take care of the safety of the people around the construction site were not called for inquiry. the manager of the building visited the police station after the incident.”
