Calling the Maharashtra government as ‘50 per cent commission’ government, which will be ousted in the coming Assembly polls, opposition Congress on Saturday said the tripartite Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will win at least 185 seats and the Congress will emerge the biggest party post polls.

“In the Assembly elections, the MVA will win more than 185 seats, and Congress will be the largest party in the state. After the Congress-MVA government comes to power, civic body elections will also be held,” said Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole. He was speaking at a public rally in Latur, on the first day of senior party leaders’ Marathwada and Vidarbha tour.

“In the Lok Sabha elections, the Mahayuti won only one seat in Marathwada, but in the Assembly elections, they should be wiped out from Marathwada,” Patole said. “The Mahayuti government is a government of scams, and there is widespread public anger against this unconstitutional government. While awarding contracts, they take a 50% commission and it’s time to oust this commission-seeking government from power,” said Ramesh Chennithala, state Congress in-charge from the AICC.

He said that the Congress should repeat its success in the Lok Sabha elections in the Assembly elections as well. The Congress won 13 seats in the LS polls, becoming the largest party in the state. “Start working for this goal, fight unitedly, and victory will be ours,” said Chennithala.

Patole, while commenting on the Maratha reservation issue, said that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took part in celebrations in Vashi, but did not disclose the reason for this celebration. “We do not know what discussions took place between Manoj Jarange-Patil and the chief minister. The government’s agenda is to commit all the sins and then blame the opposition. When both the state and central governments are under the BJP, they have not been able to grant reservations. If they do not intend to provide reservations, they aim to create conflicts between the two communities,” Patole said, adding that the BJP is employing “divide and rule” strategy used by the British.

“We need to bring a government that will reduce issues like inflation, unemployment, and support farmers and labourers. The BJP’s agenda is to bring in the caste system and Manusmriti, which only the MVA can stop,” said Congress legislative party leader Balasaheb Thorat.
