One person injured in Wadala fire, no casualties

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), an LPG gas cylinder exploded which started a fire in the vicinity.

One person was injured and no casualties were reported after a cylinder explosion sparked a fire Thursday in Wadala’s Deenbandhu Nagar.

The incident was reported at 2.18 pm in a small room near Husainiya Masjid at Wadala East’s Salt Pan road.

In a bid to extinguish the small-scale fire, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), BEST, ward level staff as well as police officials were pressed into service. The fire was extinguished at 3.30 pm.

The injured was identified as Harishchandra Tripathi (55) who sustained 25 – 30 per cent burn injuries. He has been admitted to the civic-run Sion Hospital. His condition was stable, as per medical officers.
